WELCOME to the SGI-USA Tennessee Volunteer Area Study Department home page! It is our mission to support the members' study activities so that they may fulfill this vital part of their practice of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism. As you know, faith, practice and study are the three pillars of our daily activities, which we carry out to develop and maintain a life-condition of absolute, unshakable happiness. Since its inception in 1930, the Soka Gakkai, under the leadership of presidents Makiguchi, Toda and Ikeda, has exerted maximum effort to provide study activities for all the members. Your TVA Study Department exists to support and encourage everyone. Our daimoku is constantly directed toward this goal.

Currently, we are sponsoring two major study activities on an area-wide basis:

• Bi-monthly Gosho study meetings. These are held by chapter or district on the even-numbered months of the year.
• Study of President Ikeda's guidance. We are studying President Ikeda's epic autobiographical novel, The New Human Revolution, on the odd-numbered months, and The Wisdom of the Lotus Sutra, President Ikeda's dialogue with leaders of the Soka Gakkai Study Department (serialized in the Seikyo Times and then in Living Buddhism beginning in 1996), which is an in-depth discourse on the Lotus Sutra.

In the near future, we hope, with your help and input, to have other types of study activities. In October of this year (2006), there will be another Study Review, similar to the one last year.
